About the Service

This a brand-new home which will support the most vulnerable children while alternative, longer term care is found for them. We will offer a safe, stable and nurturing environment for one child or young person, who requires support in an emergency or with very little notice. The children and young people living in our home will have experienced significant childhood trauma and will need a Registered Manager who understands how most effectively their needs can be met while keeping them safe. The intention is for this home to increase to looking after two young people once the home is established.

A bit about the role

This Registered Manager post offers a rare chance to shape the culture, values and standards from day one.

Unlike stepping in to an established service, this role allows you to build a team and create an environment that truly feels like a safe home for the children and young people we will support.

You will lead, inspire, and motivate your team to hold the highest aspirations for the young people, whilst liaising closely with Ofsted to ensure regulatory compliance and excellence, whilst creating a safe environment.

Many of the young people we will be supporting may struggle with emotional, behavioural difficulties therefore, a compassionate, patient, and positive approach is essential in helping them feel valued, understood, and empowered.

Whether you’re an experienced Registered Manager or a skilled deputy manager seeking career advancement, this could be an exciting opportunity to progress your career.

How you’ll help to create brighter futures

  • Recruiting and leading your very own dynamic team of support workers
  • Setting the values and principles in line with national standards and Action for Children policy, procedure and expectations.
  • Lead to the delivery of high-quality care that achieves positive and agreed outcomes for children and young people.
  • Liaising with key stakeholders within and outside Action for Children

Let’s talk about you

We are looking for an inspiring Registered Manager who understands how to develop trust, rapport, influence and credibility with a staff team. You also need:

  • Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management (children/young people) or the equivalent, with a view to completing your Level 5 whilst in post (supported by us)
  • Experience of leading a team within a children’s home, residential short breaks, or children’s services.
  • A passion for working with young people who exhibit challenging emotional and behavioural difficulties
  • Experience or knowledge of working in a therapeutic way
