Overview

An exciting opportunity for a Health Care Support Worker (HCSW) to work in a busy and evolving Acute Medical Ward. The successful candidate will support registered nursing staff to ensure the delivery of high‑quality care.

Responsibilities

  • Support nursing staff in the provision of high‑quality patient care.
  • Deliver relevant care without direct supervision.
  • Communicate effectively with patients, carers and relatives.
  • Carry out assigned tasks, ensuring safe, effective and person‑centred care.
  • Participate in a comprehensive induction package and annual appraisal.
  • Work within a 24‑hour service, rotating to include night duty.

Qualifications & Attributes

  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and organisational skills.
  • Self‑motivated, enthusiastic and committed to delivering person‑centred care.
  • Willingness to learn new skills and work in an acute setting.
  • Prior experience desirable but not essential; full training will be provided.
  • Must be a member of the Protection of Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme before appointment.

Working Hours & Salary

Part‑time position with a pro‑rata salary. Shift patterns cover 24 hours over 7 days, with an expectation to rotate onto night duty.
