We currently have an exciting and rewarding opportunity available for an experienced Support Worker to join our team within Cardiff. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who is passionate about supporting young people 16 years to 21 years living in supported accommodation. Building resilience to confidently allow young persons to go forward to achieve their outcome and manage a tenancy independently in line with Housing Support Grant Outcomes.

This role requires experience of working with young people who may present with mental health challenges and complex needs, providing appropriate, person‑centred support to promote wellbeing and independence.

This a permanent role working 36 hours per week.

You will need a full, current driving licence and use of a vehicle.

What you’ll do

This is a challenging, demanding, but rewarding role for the right person. You will be supporting young people who may have complex support issues, can challenge services. You will be supporting Young People who may experienced or be affected by ACE’s, Trauma, PTSD or has faced other difficulties within their short lives. You will be expected to work within a physiologically informed environmental framework, working in a trauma informed way. Supporting young persons with their agreed person centred support plan goals in regard to education, employment, budgeting, with practical necessary skills and knowledge. Building resilience to confidently allow young person to go forward is key to supporting to achieve their outcome and manage a tenancy independently.

What you’ll need

To be successful in this role you will have experience of supporting individuals with varying complex support needs. You will need excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to relate to and build supportive relationships. Experience of working in working in a psychologically/trauma informed way, experience of supporting people affected by ACE’s and people with mental health issues would be advantageous within this role.

A qualification in Social Care or related discipline is desirable but not essential.
