The Position

This is an exciting opportunity to join the health visiting team in Orkney working alongside the Infant Feeding Lead. The role will involve working with families during the antenatal and post‑birth periods, supporting mums to breastfeed effectively for as long as they desire, delivering antenatal workshops with health promotion sessions (including occasional weekend sessions with new parents) and being involved in all aspects of infant feeding.

The Candidate

You will have experience delivering health promotion and a passion for supporting families in their infant feeding journey. You will be an excellent communicator, able to work effectively both independently and as part of a larger team. As the successful candidate, you will have a vision for how the role can evolve over time and will possess SVQ 3 or have demonstrative equivalent experience.

Location, Working Pattern and Contract Duration

This post will be based at The Balfour. The successful candidate will work Part Time 12 hours per week. The post is Permanent. It is a condition of this employment that you must live and remain a resident within the UK for the period in which you are employed with NHS Orkney.

Benefits And Salary

The salary for this post is Band 3. If residing on Orkney you will also receive a Distant Islands Allowance of £1,654 pro rata per annum.
