Schools are particularly interested in candidates with Special Educational Needs (SEN) experience, though applicants with strong classroom or child-focused experience are also encouraged to apply.
As a Learning Support Assistant, you will work closely with class teachers and SEN staff to support pupils both academically and emotionally. You may work 1:1 with individual pupils or support small groups, helping children access learning and build confidence in the classroom.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting pupils with additional needs such as ASD, ADHD, SEMH or speech and language difficulties
- Providing 1:1 or small-group learning support
- Assisting with classroom organisation and lesson preparation
- Encouraging positive behaviour, independence and engagement
- Supporting pupils with emotional regulation and social development
- Working collaboratively with teachers, SENCo and support staff
- Helping maintain a safe, inclusive and structured learning environment
- Experience working with children or young people
- SEN experience is highly desirable
