Ecolab, Purolite Resins is seeking a Mechanical Maintenance Technician who will work within the UK Engineering team and support the efficient day‑to‑day operation of the UK manufacturing plant at our state‑of‑the‑art site in Llantrisant, Wales. This role ensures all mechanical and associated plant equipment is safe, functional, and fully maintained to the highest standards.
Responsibilities focus on comprehensive mechanical troubleshooting, root‑cause analysis (RCA), and repair to maintain seamless production and achieve manufacturing output targets. What You’ll Do
- Maintain all mechanical, rotating equipment, piping systems and plant equipment at Llantrisant.
- Carry out preventative maintenance (PPM), support service visits, mechanical inspections and precision alignments focused on integrity and asset life cycle.
- Develop and update maintenance procedures and quality, health & safety and environmental documentation, adhering to PSSR, PUWER and LOLER regulations.
- Work safely on site, following Permit to Work (PTW) systems and producing/following RAMS for all tasks.
- Collaborate with Process Engineers, Plant Engineers and R&D staff on troubleshooting and improvement projects, leading RCAs for mechanical failures.
- Ensure all maintenance work—internal and contractor—is accurately recorded in the CMMS.
- Provide high‑quality shift handovers, ensuring technical continuity and safety across the 4‑on‑4‑off shift pattern.
- Act as a key stakeholder in the facility, being available for remote support and call‑out.
- Perform any other reasonable duties as required by company management.
What You’ll Need
- HNC/HND qualification in Mechanical Engineering or a time‑served apprenticeship with significant industrial experience.
- Strong fault‑finding and repair experience for mechanical systems such as centrifugal pumps, agitators, gearboxes, mechanical seals and steam systems.
- Solid understanding of UK statutory regulations, notably PSSR and PUWER.
- Ability to read and interpret complex mechanical drawings, P&IDs and technical manuals.
- Proficiency in using a CMMS for work logging and spare management.
- Clear technical reporting and procedural writing skills to support continuous improvement.
- Capacity to work at heights, in confined spaces and handle heavy equipment safely.
- Competency in precision fitting, machining and basic fabrication/welding.
Desirable But Not Essential
- Experience in a COMAH or high‑hazard chemical environment.
- Experience in hazardous area maintenance (ATEX/DSEAR).
- Familiarity with condition monitoring techniques such as vibration analysis and thermography.
- Basic electrical awareness (e.g., 18th Edition or three‑phase motor replacement).
- Training or certifications in rigging, slinging or forklift operation.
