Job Description
We are currently seeking an empathetic and dedicated Children’s Complex Care Support Worker/Carer to join our team.
In this role, you will work closely with children in our residential children’s home, providing them with the necessary guidance, support, and encouragement to help them overcome challenges and achieve their goals.
As a Children’s Complex Care Support Worker/Carer, you will play a vital role in creating a positive and empowering atmosphere for children.
Key Responsibilities
- Maintain a high quality of care and support which meets the physical, emotional, intellectual, social and cultural needs of children and young people within the care of Inspirations.
- Work from the guidelines of the 1989 Children’s Act, National Minimum Standards, Every Child Matters and any other relevant legislation.
- Provide a caring, supportive and nurturing environment in which children/young people can feel secure and free from harm.
- Establish positive relationships with children/young people and always offer them unconditional and positive regard.
- Help children/young people gain self control by challenging unacceptable behaviour and rewarding acceptable, pro‑social conduct.
- Attend to practical matters in relation to childcare (cooking, cleaning, general maintenance around the home, etc).
- Act as a key worker for a child/young person to ensure that the young person’s care plans are up to date and that all their care needs are being met.
- Provide a positive role model and offer advice, guidance and assistance where appropriate.
- Establish relationships that young people perceive to be positive, warm and rewarding.
- Provide advice, assistance and support on a 1:1 basis to enable children and young people to address past and present difficulties.
- Provide emotional support at times of difficulty or stress.
- Be ambitious for children and young people, helping them achieve their goals and optimise their potential.
- Encourage the child/young person to develop links with the community, attend off‑site activities and expand their personal social network.
Safeguarding
- Maintain up‑to‑date knowledge of safeguarding policies and procedures, ensuring the safety and well‑being of all children.
- Report and document any concerns, incidents, or allegations in accordance with statutory and organisational protocols.
Professional Development
- Be aware of the aims and objectives of the home and work collaboratively with colleagues to achieve them.
- Attend team/staff meetings and make a positive contribution to them.
- Be willing to give and receive feedback on performance with colleagues and managers.
- Attend and contribute to regular supervision sessions.
Documentation and Record Keeping
- Keep accurate records and provide written reports on children and young people for planning meetings, reviews or any other meetings as directed by the line manager.
- Be familiar with all policies and procedures and adhere to them.
- Maintain clear, accurate, and up‑to‑date records, including care plans, risk assessments, and daily logs.
Health and Safety
- Ensure that the physical environment of the home is safe, welcoming, and well‑maintained.
