Fire Safety Technician / Fire Safety Consultant

Full-time | Part-time | UK-wide (Remote with travel)

Company Description

First Response Safety Group (FRSG) is a UK-based fire safety consultancy specialising in risk management and regulatory compliance across residential and commercial environments.

We support Responsible Persons, managing agents and developers with interim fire safety measures, NFCC-compliant waking watch, evacuation management and fire risk assessments.

Our wider services include fire door inspections, fire extinguisher supply and maintenance, emergency lighting and alarm testing, and structured fire safety training and staffing for complex or high-risk environments.

FRSG is building a pool of qualified technicians and assessors to support project delivery on an ad hoc basis, giving us flexibility around individual availability and operational demand. We deliver practical, compliant solutions with clear governance and accountability.

Role Description

We are seeking a Fire Safety Technician / Fire Safety Consultant to support projects across the UK. This is a remote role with travel as required.

The role will involve carrying out fire risk assessments, fire door inspections and wider fire safety compliance work, alongside providing technical input on fire protection systems and building safety arrangements.

You will work directly with clients and project teams to assess risk, identify non-compliances and support the implementation of proportionate fire safety measures within occupied buildings.

The role may also involve inspection, testing and oversight of fire safety systems, including emergency lighting, fire alarms and fire extinguishers, where required and within your scope of practice.

Travel across the UK will be required depending on project demands. Travel, accommodation and reasonable expenses will be covered.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct fire risk assessments in line with UK legislation and guidance
  • Carry out fire door inspections and passive fire protection reviews
  • Provide technical advice on fire safety compliance and risk mitigation
  • Support inspection and testing of fire safety systems where required
  • Work with clients to develop practical, compliant fire safety strategies
  • Contribute to project delivery across a range of occupied environments

Requirements

We are keen to hear from anyone who holds any of the following:

  • Demonstrable experience within fire safety / fire protection engineering
  • Strong understanding of UK fire safety legislation and guidance, E.g. Bsa 2022, RRfso 2005
  • Experience conducting fire risk assessments
  • Knowledge of passive fire protection, including fire doors and compartmentation
  • Experience or competency in one or more of the following:
  • Fire risk assessment (e.g. IFSM, IFE, FRACS, or similar)
  • Emergency lighting testing
  • Fire extinguisher servicing (BAFE or equivalent)
  • Good communication and report-writing skills
  • Ability to work independently and across multiple sites
  • BAFE registration or aligned competency
  • Membership of a recognised professional body
  • Experience working within occupied residential buildings
  • Experience conducting risk assessments in commercial buildings
