Teaching Assistant — Location: Cambridge. Salary: From £19,969 per annum (based on £25,358 FTE full year rate). Responsibilities
- Support the children in lessons within the Perse Prep School.
- Run small support groups at certain break times and cover lessons when staff are absent as required.
- Assist in coordinating with the Assistant Head (Academic) on timetables and the specific help required, liaising with subject teachers.
- Undertake a range of playground and lunch duties; may participate in the after school “Late Stay” club until 6pm with additional payment where applicable.
- Take a proactive role in the pastoral life of the children, working with form teachers, Heads of Year and the Assistant Head (Pastoral) to promote the welfare and progress of pupils.
- Engage in staff development opportunities to develop practice and receive training.
Salary, Hours and Location
The post will be remunerated according to the Perse Teaching Assistant salary scale (and threshold progression) starting at Scale Point 1 at £19,969 per annum (based on £25,358 FTE full year rate) for term-time working, with the actual starting point based on relevant skills and qualifications. The Perse Prep School will appoint several high-calibre Teaching Assistants, both full and part-time, starting in September 2026.
