About HS2 Project

  • The role will work on the HS2 project. HS2 is the UK’s new high speed rail network. It will be a catalyst for economic growth across Britain, freeing up space on the existing railways and connecting 8 out of the UK’s 10 biggest cities with fast, reliable and frequent high speed services.
  • The Skanska | Costain | STRABAG (SCS JV) is delivering the HS2 London Tunnels Contract. Scope of works includes twin-bored tunnels (TBM), SCL tunnels, shaft sinking, bridge demolition and reconstruction, services diversions, earthworks and the construction of site compounds.

Role And Key Responsibilities

Our apprentice programme is a great opportunity to gain a recognised qualification from college, whilst working on one of our projects and earning a salary. The role will involve providing support to all aspects of construction while developing the necessary skills to progress within a Contracting organization.

  • Work with team to develop and draft Risk Assessment Method Statements
  • Assist with site surveys, setting out and site investigations
  • Develop and implement Inspection and Test Plans and associated check sheet for the works
  • Ensure and undertake quality checks in accordance with the ITP’s
  • Draft Permits for the works
  • Prepare and maintain registers to support safe system of works
  • Liaise with the Site Foreman to ensure adherence to safe methods of work
  • Ensure health and safety is given the highest priority in the delivery of the works
  • Understand the Client and Joint Venture Partners’ Environment and Sustainability Policies, Processes and statutory requirements as they affect the company’s operations and ensure that the requirements, as applicable within their discipline, are implemented on the project

Qualifications

  • You will hold a standard set of A levels, one of them ideally in Maths or Physics.
  • Other relevant vocational qualifications, relevant industry experience or Level 3 BTEC National Diploma in a STEM related subject will be also considered.
