Purpose of Role
The Catering Supervisor is a key leadership role within the RAF Biggin Hill Museum & Chapel. Responsibilities include designing and preparing the daily, seasonal and specials menu, managing the café’s daily operations, cash handling, working the till, preparing and serving food and drinks, cleaning, stacking the dishwasher, opening and closing procedures, supervising volunteers, and ordering food. The role follows HACCP procedures to maintain a 5‑star food hygiene rating, delivers high‑standard customer service, and assists the Director and Assistant Director in facilitating group bookings and special events. The supervisor may work under high pressure during seasonal peaks and through changes such as extending trading hours and expanding the visitor offer.
Essential Skills
- Level 2 Food Safety and Hygiene certification
- At least 2 years of work experience in a commercial kitchen
- Experience working in a team environment
Desirable Skills
- Level 3 Food Safety and Hygiene certification
- NVQ Level 1 and 2 in Food Preparation and Cooking (or equivalent qualification)
- Experience in a supervisory role within a kitchen environment
