Behaviour Support Assistant
About the Role: We are looking for a dependable, proactive and resilient individual to join our team as a Teaching Assistant in a Special Educational Needs (SEN) school. This is a practical, active role suited to someone who is confident, steady under pressure, and ready to get stuck in to support young people in a meaningful way.
You will work closely with students with a range of additional needs, supporting them throughout the school day both in and out of the classroom. The role calls for patience, consistency, and a calm, firm approach.
Key Responsibilities
- Supporting students with learning, behaviour, and day‑to‑day routines
- Assisting the class teacher with lessons and structured activities
- Working one‑to‑one or with small groups to reinforce learning
- Managing challenging behaviour with confidence and consistency
- Supporting students during break times, transitions, and off‑site activities
- Assisting with personal care, including toileting and hygiene needs
Who We’re Looking For
- Reliable, punctual and able to work as part of a team
- Calm, confident and approachable
- Physically active and comfortable in a hands‑on role
- Willing to support students with personal care needs
- Communicates clearly and builds strong, respectful relationships
- Adaptable, practical and ready to take initiative
- Experience working with children or young people is helpful, but not essential
