Family Support Worker – SEND

Tradewind Recruitment is currently recruiting empathetic, proactive and experienced Family Support Workers to work across our partner SEND schools in Northampton. This is a highly rewarding opportunity to support pupils and their families in achieving positive educational and personal outcomes.

In this role, you will work closely with families of children with Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND), including autism (ASC), ADHD, and SEMH needs. Acting as a key link between home and school, you will help build strong, trusting relationships with parents and carers, ensuring clear communication and consistent support.

Responsibilities

• Support families with attendance and engagement.
• Offer guidance and practical support.
• Signpost to relevant external services where appropriate.
• Collaborate with school staff, SENCOs and external agencies to ensure each child’s needs are fully understood and supported both in school and at home.
• Participate in safeguarding processes, attend multi‑agency meetings and contribute to support plans.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working with families and young people with SEND.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
• A calm, supportive approach.
• Background in education, social care, youth work or a related field (highly advantageous).
