Head of Buildings and Stations Architecture

A little bit about us:

East West Rail is an infrastructure programme linking communities between Oxford and Cambridge. The area is currently let down by a lack of transport choices, and we have a once in a generation opportunity to fix that – improving prosperity for people and places along the way.

East West Railway Company (that’s us) was created by the Department for Transport (DfT) to oversee the delivery of East West Rail from construction through to wheels in motion, making sure the railway comes together in the right way.

At East West Railway Company, we’re committed to building an inclusive railway for all. We believe that to do that, we must nurture a diverse team that represents the UK communities that we impact. Our approach is simple – to create an environment where everyone is welcome and able to be themselves. We celebrate diversity and are proud to be an equal opportunity employer. We encourage applications of all backgrounds and experiences.

Role Summary:

This role will be responsible for overseeing the development of our buildings and stations assets, ensuring the successful conception, design, construction, and maintenance of these assets through the application of subject matter expertise. This role involves strategic planning, resource allocation, and ensuring compliance with industry standards and regulations. The Head of Buildings & Station Architecture will act to support the ‘design champion’ for EWR’s built environment, throughout design development and construction. As such the role will have a significant impact on the quality of design and its legacy as an operational railway.

Function:

The technical function owns the specification for the scheme, interpreting the business case and purpose and translating this into a system requirements set. Activities fall broadly into two categories – establishing standards and requirements, and assuring these are being met during both design and delivery. This role will play a pivotal role in defining and assuring the technical requirements and guidance and oversee the delivery of those to a quality and standard expected of EWR.
