Role: Head of Architecture
Location: Birmingham (Hybrid)
Network IT is recruiting for a Head of Architecture to lead enterprise and solution architecture for a large-scale, complex technology environment. In this senior leadership position, you’ll define and drive the architecture strategy across infrastructure, data, applications, and business processes—ensuring all technical decisions align with strategic business goals and enterprise standards.
Responsibilities
- Own and evolve the enterprise architecture vision and roadmap in alignment with organisational strategy.
- Lead solution design across complex domains, ensuring consistency, interoperability, and scalability.
- Govern architectural decisions across business, data, application, and infrastructure layers.
- Guide emerging technology evaluations, identifying opportunities to deliver value and mitigate risk.
- Collaborate with senior leadership and functional teams to shape and support business transformation.
- Ensure compliance with security, data protection, and IT policy frameworks.
- Build and mentor a high-performing architecture team, promoting innovation and excellence.
- Provide subject matter expertise on architecture frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), tools, and methodologies.
- Support governance and project delivery by embedding architecture in early-stage planning and approvals.
Experience Requirements
- Proven experience in an enterprise or solution architecture leadership role within a complex environment.
- Strong track record in designing and delivering integrated, scalable technical solutions across diverse systems.
- Deep understanding of architecture standards, governance, frameworks (e.g. TOGAF), and best practice.
- Broad knowledge across infrastructure, cloud, security, applications, and data.
- Exceptional stakeholder management and communication skills at executive level.
- Strategic thinker, capable of balancing long-term vision with delivery realities.
- Demonstrable experience in mentoring and developing architecture or technical teams.
- Experienced in driving digital and operational transformation through architectural leadership.
- Comfortable with enterprise modelling tools, design principles, and architecture documentation.
