Dealstack is on a mission to power private equity. Today there is no purpose-built tech to power the world of private equity. Dealmaking is manual, chaotic and backward. Dealstack is a SaaS platform that puts an end to these outdated practices, setting a new collaboration standard in the industry. Dealstack is built by PE, for PE. Founded by experienced professionals from within the industry, our products sit at the intersection of SaaS, fintech and legaltech.
Dealstack has an ambitious, multi-product roadmap. The first product went live in 2023. It allows private equity professionals to easily onboard and maintain investment programmes. Following strong commercial traction from leading industry players, we are looking for an ambitious individual with proven software engineering skills and experience working for a high growth software company. The role presents an opportunity to build and deliver innovation to a fast-moving industry.
Who You Are
- 3+ years of commercial experience as a Full stack developer with Front- or Back- end specialization
- Based in South Africa and willing to work remotely with (UK time zone business hours)
- Interested in working with fresh tech stack and being part of the independent team
- Interested in working with actual engineering problems rather than facing malfunctioning corporate procedures
- Interested in fintech and SaaS, ideally private equity
- Works cleanly with a value of writing collaborative code first
- Opinionated and passionate. We like people who have strong opinions about their work
What Job Involves
- You will join the development team with experienced people helping to choose the best business-tech solution, shipping new features on both FE and BE
- You will be shipping new features while maintaining high standards in code quality
- You will work in a small team where we focus on quality over quantity and excellence over speed
- You will have a voice to work with other senior developers on technical choices in a meritocratic environment
- You will explore areas including graph theory and visualization, document parsing with machine learning and instrument calculations
- Working with Agile methodology but not SCRUM. Tools are there to help, not to blind follow
- Having time to plan and think before implementation to deliver proper software
- Building modern UI components using React and working on BE with Node.js and Nest.js
- Architecting FE with modern and varied BE communication including API, tRPC, GraphQL, WebSocket
- Maintaining a balance between speed and quality with a focus on stability and maintainability
Desirable Skills
- Solid knowledge and experience with Node.js and React.js – the main FE & BE frameworks
- TypeScript at a sophisticated level
- Ability to use Figma from a developer perspective
- Understanding of state management in React.js
- Past experience with PostgreSQL, Jest and Playwright is preferred
- DevOps experience valued – Docker, Kubernetes, AWS services
- Understanding of ORM and repository patterns (e.g. Prisma)
- Experience or understanding of working at a product-based company
- Engineer mindset with problem-solving focus without getting lost in low-level details
- Comfortable working in a team environment (e.g., pair programming)
- Strong communication, influencing and presentation skills with accountability
- International experience and cultural sensitivity to work across multiple markets/cultures
- Positive, mature problem-solving approach; high EQ and interpersonal skills
- Team player who thrives in a flexible, changing environment
- Proficiency in English for daily use
