I am hiring for an Engineering Manager to drive the development of scalable, high-performance web applications for a Beverages Financial Services Company.

This is a hands-on leadership role for someone with deep backend expertise and full-stack capability across React/TypeScript and Java/Spring Boot.

You’ll lead architecture and delivery across in-house and offshore teams, shaping the future of their platforms while remaining technically engaged. Expect to spend 10–20% coding, 10–20% mentoring and reviewing, and 10–15% on architecture and design with the rest focused on team leadership, planning, and cross-functional collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Technical Leadership:

• Architect and deliver full-stack solutions using React/TypeScript and Java (Spring Boot). + championing best practices in performance, accessibility, and cloud-native engineering.
• Act as the final escalation point for complex technical issues.

Team Management:

• Lead and mentor a team of 2 Tech Leads + 6 Engineers (2 squads) in-house, plus an offshore team of 9.
• Drive code quality, career development, and a high-performance engineering culture.

Strategic Execution:

• Align engineering delivery with business goals. Own Agile processes (Jira), roadmap planning, and stakeholder communication. Translate strategic objectives into actionable technical plans.
• Promote modular architecture, CI/CD automation (Bitbucket, Docker, AWS), and continuous improvement. Evaluate emerging technologies and foster experimentation.
• React, TypeScript, Java, Spring Boot
• AWS (S3, Lambda, CloudFront, API Gateway, IAM/Auth0)
• Docker, Git, Bitbucket, Jest, Cypress
• Jira, Figma

What You’ll Bring:

• Solid experience in software engineering, with strong full-stack experience
• 3–5 years in a leadership role managing distributed teams
• Proven architectural expertise and hands-on coding ability
• Strong grasp of Agile, SDLC, and cross-functional collaboration
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
• Experience with micro frontends, SSR, JAMstack (Next.js, Vite)
• Open-source contributions or internal tooling development
• UX sensibility and collaboration with design teams
• Exposure to regulated or performance-critical environments

This role will be 4 days ON SITE in Central London (Office based near Waterloo) and will be a 2 stage interview process (Introduction call followed by final technical round in their office)
