A leading engineering organisation is seeking an Engineering Design Manager to lead the delivery of complex mechanical systems across a range of high-value, safety-critical projects. This is a key leadership role with responsibility for technical direction, team development, and design governance.
The Engineering Design Manager Role
- Lead and manage a team of up to 10 engineers
- Oversee engineering design from concept through to manufacture
- Ensure compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory standards
- Drive FEED and Design for Manufacture best practices
- Act as a senior technical authority in design reviews and risk assessments
- Collaborate with project teams and stakeholders to align design with delivery goals
- Identify opportunities for innovation and continuous improvement
What We're Looking For
- A strong academic background in Mechanical or General Engineering (MEng, MSc preferred)
- Chartered Engineer status, or actively working towards it
- Significant experience delivering bespoke engineering design projects, with a proven track record in leadership roles
- Deep understanding of high-integrity systems and working within regulated industries
- Hands-on experience with FEED, Design for Manufacture, and full lifecycle engineering
- A confident communicator and team leader, able to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels
- Must be eligible to obtain SC clearance within 6 months of joining
