This is an excellent and unique opportunity for a strong graduate-calibre “Buyside senior Equity Trade Support Analyst”, who is looking to make their step-up to become an “Asset Management Equity Operations Manager.”

Company and Role

Martis Search represents a boutique City of London based and successful Equity Long focused, Institutional Asset Management company. The role is to hire a permanent “Senior Asset Management Equity Trade Support Analyst” with the view to either being offered an “Equity Operations Manager” role from the start, or to grow into the role after a short period (approximately 6 months).

The company invests in Equity Long Trading strategies and the role sits on their Trading Floor next to the Front Office Investment team (CEO, Fund Managers, Investment Research Analysts and Sales & Marketing teams).

The Equity Operations team is very small and the role reports into their COO.

Role Options and Responsibilities

The chosen person will be responsible to either:

• Manage the small Equity Operations/ Equity Trade Support team from the very start.
• Learn the Equity Operations/ Equity Trade Support role for up to 6 months, with the view to becoming the “Asset Management Equity Operations Manager.”
• Currently an “Asset Management Equity Operations Manager”, supervising a small team and looking for a new role (e.g., a better package, new challenge, or different fund).

Due to the size of the firm, the role will be both hands-on and strategic; you will perform Equity Trade Support duties daily, but also fully manage the small team, the workflows, and the relationships with 3rd party external system providers, custodians and administrators.

You will also work closely with the COO to undertake and be responsible for related Operations projects, including writing technical Operations change documents that can be used by IT departments to code and create new processes.

Our client is ideally looking for someone who is degree-calibre, ideally with a 2:1, but a 2:2 in a numerate subject (e.g., Mathematics, Economics, Engineering) will also be considered.

You must either be from a “Buyside” Asset Management, or Hedge Fund background with a minimum of 3 years Asset Management Equity Trade Support experience. The asset classes traded are global Cash Equities, and you may also work with Futures & Options and FX.

You will be involved with the full Trade-Life Cycle and Investment Operations responsibilities, as well as related project management/change experience, including:

Daily BAU responsibilities

• Manage all Equity Trade Support & Operations – working closely with internal Fund Managers.
• Manage the Equity Operations team – including appraisals, targets and key deliverables (with help from the COO).
• Daily liaison and relationship building with Prime Brokers, custodians and Fund Administrators.
• Reconciliations: daily cash and position reconciliations.
• Margin calls/returns and collateral management.
• Monthly/ Quarterly Valuations/NAVs (in conjunction with Administrators).

Compensation

Salary: £70,000 - £83,000 per annum, plus bonus, shares in the company, pension, healthcare and other related benefits such as “cycle-to-work-scheme” and “electric car” contributions.
