Objectives / Purpose of Job

To drive growth and profitability within the Surgical Business by developing strategies and implementing tactical and promotional plans that strengthen market presence and deliver results.

Responsibilities

  • Strategic Marketing
    • Contribute to the annual UK/Ireland Sales & Marketing plan with a brand focus on the surgical product range.
    • Manage implementation of activities within the plan, providing clear direction to the sales team on existing and new product launch strategies.
    • Support the commercialisation of new products (Business Development or New Product Development), contributing to launch plans that ensure team engagement, customer advocacy, and strong sales uptake.
    • Collaborate with Training Manager and Product Specialists to develop robust training plans that maximise growth potential of new and existing products.
    • Play an active role in supporting field teams during early product trials to gather insights, share best practices, and accelerate adoption.
    • Develop pricing and promotional proposals in collaboration with Sales and Commercial Operations to optimise profit margin and market share.
  • Tactical Execution
    • Drive the implementation of product launch activities with integrated promotional plans designed to maximise sales growth.
    • Maintain brand identity and message consistency through tactical programmes that address internal and external stakeholder needs.
    • Develop promotional materials with agencies and stakeholders, ensuring timely delivery to the sales team.
    • Continuously seek improvements in marketing tools and communications to enhance adoption by healthcare professionals.
    • Define requirements for educational programmes to support product adoption in collaboration with Training and Marketing teams.
    • Ensure a coordinated approach to events and training activities across the business.
  • Market & Customer
    • Demonstrate strong technical and clinical understanding of the surgical product portfolio.
    • Analyse market environments, competitor activity, and customer insights to shape tactical plans.
    • Monitor and support customer feedback and complaints in collaboration with relevant teams.
    • Track supply and demand with commercial analysts to meet projections and customer needs.
    • Identify and build relationships with Key Opinion Leaders (KOLs) to enhance advocacy and market presence.
    • Represent the organisation at UK & Ireland exhibitions and events (3–5 per year), and attend European training/events (2–3 per year).
    • Conduct regular field visits with sales teams to support key accounts.
    • Oversee brand budgets, ensuring effective allocation, tracking, and compliance with financial controls.
    • Collaborate with Commercial Analysts and Supply Planners to ensure forecasts are accurate and aligned with strategy.
    • Support back order and stock allocation processes as needed.
  • Compliance & Regulatory Affairs
    • Ensure all customer-facing activities comply with legal, compliance, and medical review processes.
    • Manage artwork and promotional approvals in collaboration with Medical Affairs and Regulatory teams.
    • Maintain tools and collateral within sales enablement platforms for field team use.
    • Stay informed on compliance requirements and codes of business conduct, ensuring alignment across the team.
  • Scope of Position
    • Accountability for UK/Ireland annual sales and margin targets within the Surgical Business.
    • Regular collaboration with UK/Ireland teams, regional cluster teams, and international marketing to ensure aligned strategy and maximise efficiencies.
    • Budget management for projects related to brand focus.
  • Key Relationships
    • External: Healthcare Practitioners (Surgeons and wider surgical teams); Hospital/Clinic Service Management (Theatre Managers / Practice Managers)
    • Internal: Leadership Team; Head of Marketing – Surgical; International and Cluster Marketing Teams; Medical Affairs / Regulatory Affairs; Training Manager and Product Specialists; Sales Managers, Territory Managers, and Clinical Application Specialists; Key Account Managers; Customer Services Team

    Qualifications / Training

    • Degree or equivalent relevant professional qualification.

    Experience

    • Previous experience within a multinational healthcare or medical devices company.
    • 3–5 years’ product/marketing experience in medical devices.
    • Ability to deliver to tight deadlines in a results-driven organisation.
    • Strong planning and self-management skills in a hybrid role.
    • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
    • Proven track record of meeting agreed targets.
    • Ability to build and deliver effective brand plans.
    • Excellent communication and influencing skills.
    • Customer-focused mindset.
