My client is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Technical Lead to drive the design and integration of advanced hardware systems, including custom ASICs and high-performance network interface cards. This role involves overseeing outsourced hardware design activities, ensuring the seamless integration of complex systems into cutting-edge photonics-based equipment platforms. The ideal candidate will possess strong technical expertise, supplier management capabilities, and a proven ability to manage risks and programs in a collaborative and dynamic environment.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design and development of highly complex custom integrated circuits (ICs) for advanced photonics modules targeting data centre applications
  • Provide technical leadership and oversight to outsourced design partners, ensuring alignment with system-level requirements and delivery timelines
  • Define and finalise hardware specifications; manage and participate in design reviews; approve technical deliverables
  • Develop and execute comprehensive test plans for hardware validation, verification, and system integration
  • Troubleshoot and resolve hardware issues at both board and system levels
  • Manage supplier relationships and support hardware bring-up and production readiness
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including electrical, RF, mechanical, and software engineers, to ensure seamless system integration
  • Maintain detailed documentation of application requirements, test procedures, and design changes
  • Drive risk management, change control, and issue resolution throughout the hardware development lifecycle

Qualifications

  • A minimum of 10 years of experience in hardware integration, preferably within RF, photonics, or optical systems
  • Strong understanding of RF fundamentals, signal processing, and control loop design
  • In-depth knowledge of high-speed ADC and DAC specifications for hardware control
  • Proven ability to produce high-quality technical documentation
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to work effectively across multidisciplinary teams
  • Demonstrated ability to articulate complex technical concepts to diverse audiences
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electronics Engineering, Physics, or a related field
