Locum Principal Litigation Lawyer – Hybrid Working – Up to £70 per hour via Umbrella – South West
Venn Group’s specialist Public Sector Legal team is working with a South West Local Authority who are seeking to appoint a talented Locum Principal Litigation Lawyer to join their team full time for an initial term of 3 months, subject to extension thereafter.
The successful candidate will be a Qualified Lawyer (Solicitor, Barrister and highly experienced CILEX professional) with recent local government experience handling a varied caseload of general litigation matters. You will therefore have a background of any of the following areas of litigation: civil, criminal, administrative, planning, commercial, property, employment or any other relevant areas. You will need to be comfortable overseeing and managing the litigation team, alongside being comfortable representing the Council in legal proceedings.
Further aspects of the role include:
- Working with all aspects of complex legal documents, including drafting, negotiating and amending
- Supervising the day-to-day operations of the Litigation department
- Research complex legal questions and ensure that viable solutions are provided to any legal problems
- Providing support and mentoring for junior members of staff
- Assisting the Chief Legal Officer on matters of governance
- Taking lead on periodic reviews of those under your supervision
An attractive hourly rate of £65 – £70 per hour via Umbrella is offered for this position dependent on experience. This is a hybrid working role, with the successful candidate attending office on a weekly basis.
