Senior Civil Engineer role at Progressive. This design-focused position supports the design and delivery of National Grid substation projects. Requires deep technical expertise in substation civil engineering and knowledge of National Grid standards and processes.
Responsibilities
- Lead and deliver civil design packages for National Grid substation projects.
- Ensure designs comply with National Grid specifications, CDM regulations, and relevant British Standards.
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams including electrical engineers, project managers, and contractors.
- Review and approve technical drawings, calculations, and documentation.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers.
- Attend site visits and client meetings as required.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working on National Grid substation projects.
- Strong background in civil and structural design, particularly for substations.
- Proficient in relevant design software (e.g., AutoCAD, Civil 3D, STAAD.Pro).
- In-depth knowledge of National Grid technical standards and procedures.
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple design packages.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
Desirable
- Chartered Engineer status (CEng or equivalent).
- Experience with hybrid working and remote collaboration tools.
- Located within commuting distance of Stafford (preferred but not essential).
Working Arrangement
- Hybrid working preferred from the Stafford office.
- Remote candidates with strong National Grid experience will also be considered.
