Senior Control and Automation Engineer
Join ITI Group – a leading partner in energy, nuclear and industrial manufacturing – as a Senior Control and Automation Engineer in Glasgow. We are looking for a Systems Engineer/Senior Systems Engineer to design, build, test and implement industrial control systems using PLCs, HMIs, SCADA and industrial networks.
About the Job
Full‑time position. Nuclear/Hydro environment. Based in Glasgow (Bellshill). Working across offices and on client sites throughout the UK if required.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, program and test mission‑critical innovative solutions under guidance of senior engineers.
- Resolve hardware and software challenges for assigned solution areas.
- Design and configure cyber‑secure infrastructure, communicate between solution components using industry standard protocols.
- Ensure compliance with internal and external standards.
- Assemble, supervise and carry out electrical testing of solution hardware (including functional safety systems).
- Install and commission solutions on customer sites.
- Provide support and mentoring for junior engineers.
Requirements
- Five or more years of control system project delivery experience.
- Experience in design, implementation, testing and commissioning within a project team.
- Basic understanding of electrical system drawings (GA’s, wiring schematics, termination diagrams).
- Good fundamental electrical knowledge and ability to interpret system drawings.
- Sound grasp of general IT/OT technologies and development methodologies.
- Awareness of Quality Management System procedures.
- Knowledge of Windows OS configuration and lockdown.
- Knowledge of network switch and firewall configuration.
- Electrical/Electronic or Electrical or Software Engineering degree (min 2:1) or equivalent qualification.
- Experience with Siemens PLCs/HMIs/DCS/Drives.
- Proficient in generation of formal technical documentation for the full life cycle of projects.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office products.
- Ability to estimate time and costs for common tasks.
- Eligible for security clearance checks for access to client sites.
- Excellent verbal, written and interactive communication skills.
- Ability to operate self‑sufficiently on customer premises.
- Commercial awareness and diligence.

Salary: Above industry standard.
