ICT / AV Design Engineer

The role - ICT Consultant

In this role, you will work alongside senior team members and other project teams to support the design and implementation of ICT systems across infrastructure projects. You will contribute to requirements capture, technical assessments, and the development of strategies that meet project objectives, industry standards and best practices. You will participate in ICT masterplans, site assessments, feasibility studies, design specifications, and collaboration with internal and external multidisciplinary teams. Your work will contribute to the integration of digital technologies and the advancement of technology use in projects.

Responsibilities include:

• Support the technical lead for allocated projects, producing designs that conform to client requirements, industry standards and best practices.
• Design ICT physical infrastructure to support passive and active systems (e.g., structured cabling, low-voltage building controls, and communications systems).
• Contribute to ICT specifications, design drawings and the delivery of ICT and supporting infrastructure.
• Develop ICT performance specifications using Revit, AutoCAD and BIM, including calculations, technical specifications, drawings, Employers Resources and tender documentation.
• Participate in construction site visits to perform compliance monitoring of ICT works, in collaboration with senior team members.

The skills required - ICT Consultant / Mechanical Engineer focus

Education: degree level in Electronics Engineering, ICT or Computer Science (MEng, BEng or BSc). Membership or progression toward a professional institute (e.g., IET, BCS, CIBSE) is preferred. You should be aiming for a career in ICT and technology systems design and construction.

Knowledge and experience sought include:

• Designing ICT systems such as structured data cabling and physical data infrastructure.
• Active ICT systems and Internet of Things (IoT).
• Satellite communications, antennas and aerials; GSM systems; Wi-Fi mapping.
• Design of project drawings (single-line diagrams, schematics, wiring diagrams, room layouts, rack layouts) in line with company and project instructions.
• Conducting site visits and surveys to execute design work, including supervision and support.
• Working knowledge of Autodesk software (Revit and AutoCAD) for document production.
• Strong written and spoken English communication skills.
• Interest or ability to code in languages such as Python.
