Job Title: Senior Risk & Compliance Manager

Location: East Midlands – 2 days office per week

Salary: to £90k + Car allowance

About the Role

Our client, a long standing and highly respected Financial Services organisation are seeking a highly skilled Senior Risk & Compliance Manager to lead and embed a robust first‑line risk and compliance framework across the business. This is a senior leadership role where you will provide strategic guidance, ensure operational resilience, and drive a strong risk‑aware culture. You will act as a trusted advisor to senior stakeholders, translating complex regulatory requirements into practical, scalable solutions and championing customer‑focused outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

Leadership & People Management

  • Set a culture of effective leadership, creating an inclusive and supportive team ethos.
  • Set clear priorities, provide regular feedback, and coach colleagues to deliver their best work.
  • Support team development, both for current roles and future progression, including performance and career conversations.
  • Act as a role model for corporate social responsibility initiatives and encourage team involvement.

Customer Experience & Outcomes

  • Embed a customer‑first mindset across your team, designing and delivering excellent customer experiences.
  • Monitor performance, utilise MI, and continuously improve processes and customer journeys.

Operational Resilience & Risk Management

  • Ensure adherence to business continuity, cybersecurity, and operational risk procedures.
  • Identify, report, and elevate risks, incidents, and potential operational disruptions.
  • Collaborate with other teams to align resilience strategies and manage operational dependencies.
  • Assess emerging threats, manage cyber and operational risks, and embed mitigations in day‑to‑day planning.
  • Lead risk considerations in major change and transformation programmes.

Information Security & Data Management

  • Promote a security‑aware culture, ensuring compliance with all information security policies and procedures.
  • Foster data integrity and compliance, championing ethical handling, accuracy, and confidentiality.
  • Drive data‑informed decision‑making to support business objectives.

Health & Safety

  • Maintain a safe and healthy working environment, complying with policies and relevant regulations.
  • Promote a proactive health and safety culture within your team, encouraging wellbeing and open discussion.

What We’re Looking For

Knowledge & Skills

  • Strong expertise in operational and enterprise risk management, governance, and compliance frameworks.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements, including financial services conduct, operational, and consumer regulations.
  • Ability to translate complex regulation into practical operational controls and solutions.
  • Strong leadership, influencing, and coaching skills with experience engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Skilled in risk trend analysis, thematic reporting, and data‑driven decision‑making.
  • Strategic thinker, able to connect operational risks to enterprise objectives and long‑term planning.

Experience

  • Proven track record in senior risk, compliance, or governance roles.
  • Experience leading risk and compliance frameworks across multiple business areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to embed risk and compliance into change programmes and regulatory initiatives.
  • Experience building, coaching, and developing high‑performing teams.
  • Trusted advisor to senior leaders, translating regulatory complexity into operational clarity.
