Programmes Fellows – Overview
One Young World is seeking three new Programmes Fellows to help make their ambitious plans for One Young World 2026 Cape Town a reality. Fellows will be assigned to a department for the course of their Fellowship from January 2026 to 30 November 2026. This is a fixed‑term, full‑time role.
Responsibilities
Fellows joining the Programmes Team will be responsible for ensuring the brightest young leaders in the world are able to attend the One Young World Summit, regardless of their financial means or location. Key responsibilities include:
- Research and engage with young leaders around the world to promote One Young World’s programmes.
- Support the admissions process to ensure the very best candidates benefit from programmes.
- Provide logistical support to beneficiaries, including visa application assistance, flight booking, and housing coordination.
- Respond to incoming queries from delegates (scholarship and corporate) and partners, managing multiple email inboxes and calls.
- Maintain database records.
- Serve as the main point of contact for delegates during the Summit from more than 190 countries.
Qualifications
To succeed in the Fellowship, you will:
- Have an active interest in current affairs, sustainability, and geopolitical issues.
- Be highly efficient and organised, with experience of complex administrative tasks.
- Have experience using the Microsoft Office suite, especially Excel.
- Be a team player who takes initiative and can cope well with deadlines and a high‑pressure environment.
- Possess a confident, professional manner suitable for an outward‑facing role and be comfortable speaking on the telephone.
- Be fluent in English; fluency in an additional language is desirable but not mandatory.
- Have the legal right to work in the UK and ideally be based within commuter distance of London or plan to relocate to London in January 2026.
- Show passion for and strong general knowledge of social and environmental causes.
- Exhibit an enthusiastic, professional personality and excellent attention to detail.
- Possess strong communication skills, both written and verbal.
