We are looking to strengthen our operational team with the appointment of an experienced Surfacing Manager.
As Surfacing Manager, you will take responsibility for the planning, coordination, and delivery of tar/asphalt surfacing operations. This hands-on role requires excellent technical knowledge, strong leadership, and the ability to manage people, plant, and performance in a fast-paced, safety-critical environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage day-to-day surfacing operations, ensuring timely and safe delivery of projects
- Plan resources including labour, plant, materials, and subcontractors
- Liaise with clients, site teams, and other stakeholders to maintain strong working relationships
- Ensure all works are carried out to company quality standards and in compliance with specifications
- Monitor and manage costs, productivity, and programme delivery
- Ensure health & safety procedures are followed at all times on site
- Lead and supervise site teams, promoting a culture of safety and accountability
- Conduct site inspections and audits, resolving any technical or operational issues
- Report progress and project updates to senior management
Key Skills and Experience
- Proven experience in a similar surfacing management role within the asphalt/tar surfacing industry
- Strong knowledge of road surfacing techniques, materials, plant, and equipment
- Excellent organisational and leadership skills
- Good understanding of health, safety, and environmental regulations
- Strong communication and client-facing skills
- Proficient in reading technical drawings and specifications
- Full UK driving licence (essential)
Working Hours
- Monday to Friday, 07:30–17:00, with occasional overtime and weekend work as required to meet business needs.
