GRADE 7 – Full‑time, Fixed Term contract up to June 2027.
Location: University of Birmingham, Edgbaston, Birmingham, UK.
Salary: £36,636 to £46,049, potential progression to £48,822.
Closing date: 11th January 2026.
Overview
This role contributes to the delivery of the Gates Foundation‑funded Independent Centre for Evaluating Nonhormonal Contraceptive (iCENC) project within the Centre for Human Reproductive Science. The Project Manager will play a pivotal role in ensuring effective delivery of all aspects of the iCENC programme, supported by Professor Jackson Kirkman‑Brown and Dr Meurig Gallagher.
Main Duties
- Responsible for the delivery of the iCENC project, providing high‑level project management support.
- Developing project plans, KPIs and milestones.
- Reviewing and auditing progress, identifying improvements.
- Reporting progress, writing reports, and presenting to Project Boards.
- Providing executive support to Project Boards, working groups; setting agendas, collating minutes.
- Assessing and escalating issues and risks; managing risk registers.
- Stakeholder management, liaising with partners, funders, Board.
- Managing project resources, budgets, documentation.
- Coordinate conferences, meetings, workshops, dissemination events.
- Develop and deliver communication strategy – newsletters, briefings, websites.
- Balance priorities and deliver agreed deliverables against timelines.
- Maintain updated knowledge of project management methodologies.
- Source, analyse and develop insights from data to inform evaluation.
- Promote equality, diversity and inclusion, acting as a role model.
- Support the University’s sustainability agenda through efficient working.
- Other duties commensurate with grade.
Required Knowledge, Skills, Qualifications
- Degree level qualification or equivalent with practical managerial experience.
- Proven track record of successful project management; familiarity with tools such as Prince2.
- Strong literacy and numeracy; ability to write clearly and analyse data.
- Strong people‑management and excellent budgetary management skills.
- Highly proficient IT skills, including MS Office and website editing software.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication and influencing skills.
- Excellent organisational and multi‑tasking skills with a methodical approach.
- Knowledge of the Equality Act 2010 and ability to ensure equality of opportunity.
