Configuration Engineer

Company: STS Defence

Location: Gosport

Overview

The Configuration Engineer will provide a key supporting function within the Design Engineering department, for configuration and change management, principally using the Autodesk Vault Product Data Management (PDM) tool. This holds data from individual CAD drawings, electronics schematics, through to full-scale assemblies for complete products and sub-systems. They will also be responsible for facilitating Engineering change reviews via the Change Control Board process.

This role will be the gatekeeper for the control and revision state of engineering designs and supporting documents. They will also be the facilitator for all internal reviews of design and proposed changes. Typical projects reside within the naval or aerospace environment, for prime contractors and Tier one suppliers. This role requires strong prior experience of using and managing PDM software tools and the processes for the management and change of data across design/product life-cycles, including the interface between design & development and production engineering. Through the Design Engineering department, this role will contribute to successful operation of the organisation and its adherence to the business management system, including integration of the PDM and other software tools to support improved configuration management and release control of sensitive data. This therefore requires the appropriate security clearances.
