Solution Architect (Applications) | up to £800/day (Inside IR35) | 12-Month Contract | Hybrid (Bristol – 3 days on site)

We are seeking a skilled Solution Architect (Applications) to lead the secure design, migration, and hosting of both COTS and non-COTS applications across virtual environments. This role offers the opportunity to contribute to a high-profile programme from initial architecture through to deployment.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide subject matter expertise and architectural leadership across application hosting, migration, and data management.
• Design and document High-Level Architectures (HLAs) and Architecture Overviews to support a broad application landscape.
• Create and maintain detailed Low-Level Designs (LLDs) and build/configuration documentation for deployment activities.
• Oversee technical delivery from early-stage planning through build, migration, and go-live.
• Participate in technical design sessions, aligning solutions with overall enterprise architecture and project goals.
• Collaborate closely with delivery partners, security teams, and project managers to ensure alignment with governance and compliance standards.
• Support the development of test strategies and assurance plans, ensuring solutions meet performance and security requirements.

Required Skills & Experience:

• Demonstrated experience architecting and delivering application and data solutions in high-security or complex enterprise environments.
• Proficient in virtualisation and hosting technologies (e.g., VMware, Hyper-V), with an understanding of scalable infrastructure patterns.
• Strong background in application migration, particularly for mixed estates (COTS, legacy, bespoke systems).
• Confident working in multi-disciplinary teams, with a proactive and consultative approach to stakeholder engagement.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong focus on quality and attention to detail.
