Helping to collate, sort, and prepare donated gifts‑in‑kind

  • Supporting the distribution of items such as toys, games, or comfort items to hospital wards
  • Helping ensure donated items are organised and ready to bring smiles to patients and families

This role directly supports patients with gifts whilst in hospital ranging from blankets for all ages including end of life, to comfort items, toys and activities.

What additional skills or experience you should have

  • Friendly, approachable, and reliable
  • Happy to get involved and support others
  • Passionate about supporting local hospitals and the NHS
  • DBS checks will be required

What training we will provide for you

On‑line NHS mandatory training including safeguarding and health and safety.

What you will get out of volunteering for us

  • Experience in fundraising, community engagement, and hospital support activities
  • The satisfaction of knowing your time is helping bring comfort and care to others

We are the only registered charity dedicated to supporting patient care across West Hertfordshire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust. We believe that every patient deserves the highest quality care possible, whether it’s support through a pregnancy, care in an emergency, treatment for a long‑term illness, or kindness in final days.

Thanks to the generous support of our donors, staff in our three hospitals can provide a level of patient care beyond what would be possible with NHS funding alone. Charitable donations help fund the latest technology, environmental enhancements, staff development, and extra comforts that make such a difference to patients, day after day.
