Based out of Edinburgh, Aveni is an award-winning AI-driven FinTech, on a mission to revolutionise productivity and compliance in financial services, using purpose-built artificial intelligence. We specialise in Natural Language Processing and large language model innovation, most notably our proprietary FinLLM, the UK’s first financial services specific language model.
We collaborate with leading institutions to deliver high impact AI solutions like Aveni Assist and Aveni Detect that streamline adviser workflows and automate compliance with precision.
Summary
This is a newly created position, reporting directly to the COO, where you’ll own financial operations, reporting, and planning. You’ll bring investor-ready insights, improve financial processes, and act as a trusted voice in strategic decision-making.
You’ll be the financial backbone of the business, from day-to-day accounting to advising the board on key investment decisions.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and manage day-to-day finance operations including month-end close, reporting, and forecasting
- Build scalable finance processes and controls to support rapid growth
- Own the production of management accounts and financial statements
- Partner with leadership on financial planning, modelling, and scenario analysis
- Prepare board and investor reports that support funding rounds and strategic initiatives
- Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and regulatory requirements
- Manage relationships with auditors, accountants, and external advisors
What We’re Looking For
- ACA, ACCA, or CIMA qualified accountant
- Senior finance experience in a SaaS, tech, or VC-backed business
- Strong financial reporting, forecasting, and modelling skills
- Experience supporting or leading investor reporting, fundraising, or due diligence
- Proven ability to build scalable finance systems and processes
- Strategic mindset with hands-on operational capability
- Advanced Excel skills and comfort in fast-paced scale-up environments
