Financial Controller

Jenson Fisher is delighted to be retained by our client, a fast-paced, dynamic employer based in Dundee, to recruit a Financial Controller. This is a unique opportunity to join a thriving business experiencing sustained growth and development.

The Financial Controller will work closely with the Managing Director and senior leadership team, taking full ownership of the finance function and providing strategic insights to support business growth. This role is hands-on and suited to a commercially-minded finance professional with strong technical expertise and leadership skills within a small finance team.

The responsibilities of the Financial Controller include:

• Leading day-to-day finance operations, including month-end and year-end reporting.
• Preparing management accounts, budgets, forecasts, and cash flow analyses.
• Providing financial insights to support strategic planning and decision-making.
• Managing the audit process and maintaining internal controls.
• Overseeing payroll, VAT returns, and statutory compliance.
• Collaborating with operational teams to enhance performance and profitability.
• Leading, mentoring, and developing the finance team.

In addition, the ideal candidate will be:

• A fully qualified accountant (CA/ACCA/CIMA) or qualified by experience.
• Proven experience in a similar Financial Controller role, preferably within an SME environment.
• Strong technical skills with a commercial mindset.
• An excellent communicator with stakeholder management abilities.
• Proactive, hands-on, and focused on continuous improvement.
