The Finance Department provides financial reporting for the firm, including the preparation of partnership and statutory accounts, as well as regulatory financial and capital reporting and appropriate tax filings. They manage payments on behalf of the business, payroll, pensions and process staff expenses. They also provide full Board support on all finance matters including support to business development initiatives as well as financial modelling to support decision making.
The Tax team (incorporating both the Group Tax and Product and Investment Tax teams) sits within the wider Finance Department and provides support to the business on all tax issues impacting the Baillie Gifford Group (‘the Group’) and its managed investment funds.
Purpose of Role
This role offers a great opportunity to join the Group Tax team, reporting to the Head of Tax. As a newly created role focused on indirect taxes, it provides the autonomy to shape the position and make an immediate impact.
The individual will manage global indirect taxes for the Group and its managed investment funds. You’ll provide valuable expertise and support to the business, help to strengthen Baillie Gifford’s indirect tax processes and controls and work closely with colleagues in the wider Finance Department and across Baillie Gifford to ensure indirect tax matters are managed effectively.
We are ideally looking to fill this role on a part‑time basis, preferably 21 to 28 hours.

The type of candidate that we're looking for
We are looking for an Indirect Tax Manager from industry or professional practice who has strong indirect technical experience and is able to translate that into the delivery of Baillie Gifford’s indirect tax requirements. You will be confident working independently but also able to build relationships both within the firm and with external service providers. Proven organisational skills are essential as the role will involve managing multiple deadlines. In addition, a commitment to driving technological efficiencies and enhancing existing processes will be essential.
