Job Description:

Overall responsibility for the compliance function forcorporate tax clients.This includes:

  • Preparation and review of corporation tax returns fora range of complex clients
  • Monitoring tax return progress to ensure timelycompletion and submission to the Revenue
  • Advising corporate tax clients of tax liabilities dueon a timely basis
  • Liaising directly with clients to ensure both accurateand prompt completion of tax returns
  • Communicating effectively with client’s both orallyand in writing
  • Dealing with all client queries promptly andefficiently
  • Reporting to the client partner on all mattersrelevant to the client’s tax affairs
  • Working on a broad range of ad hoc tax consultancyassignments is a considerable part of the role.This may include reorganisations, R & D tax, share schemes, propertyhive ups, international tax etc.
  • Identifying tax planning opportunities and followingthese through with the Tax Partner and the relevant partners or associates
  • Dealing with detailed HMRC enquiries from inception tocompletion
  • Management of Work in Progress and timely billing
  • Supporting the wider tax team and mentoring anddeveloping junior members of staff

Other Duties and Tasks

  • Attend clients’ premises as and when required
  • Work with Partners, and staff to provide a personal,professional service for the benefit of both clients and the Firm.

Decision Making / Freedom to Act

This is a senior role in which the individual willhave a high degree of autonomy and will take necessary decisions in theordinary course of providing a comprehensive tax service to clients.

Dimensions of Job

Overall responsibility for the compliance function forapprox. 100 corporate tax clients including large companies, owner managedbusinesses, groups and sector specific companies.The role will be approximately 60% advisory/40%compliance work.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Over 5 years’ experience in total in a corporate taxrole in industry or within a professional practice (Essential)
  • Experience of working in an accountancy practice(Essential)
  • Experience of managing own client compliance portfolio(Essential)
  • Experience of dealing with detailed HMRC enquiries(Essential)
  • Computer literate with experience of Alphatax or otherCT software
  • Demonstrates ‘expert level’ of understanding of own technical/professionalfunction
  • Experience of working on long term clientrelationships and of working on a fee basis with clients
  • Experience of managing people
