An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Senior Design Manager to join a reputable Tier 1 Main Contractor on a major £200m Commercial project in Cambridgeshire.

Our client is one of the busiest and most respected main contractors in the UK, renowned for delivering award-winning projects across multiple sectors. Following recent success in securing multiple commercial sector bids, the business sees this role as a key opportunity to support continued growth.

Role & Responsibilities

As Senior Design Manager, you will be site-based and responsible for managing the design process throughout the project lifecycle.

Key accountabilities include:

  • Efficiently managing design management tools to plan, track, and monitor:
  • Design quality and compliance
  • Timely production of design deliverables
  • Progress of consultant and subcontractor design at all project stages

Ensuring best practice principles are followed, including:

  • Design assurance and buildability reviews
  • Alignment of design deliverables with the commercial strategy

Supporting the wider team by:

  • Identifying and converting opportunities
  • Recording, assessing, and managing the impact of design changes

Accurately recording all design-related project interactions, including:

  • Approvals, comments, submissions, and reviews
  • Daily, monthly, and ongoing design records
  • Driving results and ensuring all design approvals are achieved in line with project protocols

Desired Skills & Experience

  • Relevant professional qualification in a related discipline (preferred)
  • Minimum 3 years’ experience in Design Management (RIBA Stages 3–6)
  • Proven experience of on-site project delivery
  • Strong ability to collaborate and build effective working relationships across:
  • Design, procurement, and construction functions
