Overview
We have a current opportunity for a Project Controls Engineer on a contract basis with a leading energy company. The position will be based in Flintshire, North Wales with regular visits to the HQ in London.
Purpose: Support the Package Manager in overseeing contractor performance and assist Project Controls in preparing, updating, and reporting on package/contract schedules.
Responsibilities
- Assist the Package Manager with project controls for assigned work packages.
- Attend contractor meetings and site visits.
- Maintain and update package schedules, supporting integration into the overall project schedule.
- Provide progress reporting, including updates, KPIs, forecasts, variance analysis, and improvement opportunities.
- Monitor project compliance with contractual and procedural requirements.
- Verify contractor progress and payment applications.
- Support action plans to prevent cost and schedule overruns through value engineering.
- Review and challenge schedule, cost, and manpower forecasts.
- Prepare performance and progress reports for review with project leadership.
- Maintain project lessons learned and change management records.
- Support monitoring of permitting activities.

External: Contractors, Local authorities
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree preferred
- Strong English communication skills (written and spoken)
Experience & Competencies
- Minimum 5 years' experience in Project Execution / Project Controls
- Solid knowledge of project control tools and principles
- Experience in oil & gas industry planning roles
- Proficient in Primavera P6, SharePoint, and Microsoft Office
- Strong communication and analytical skills
- Understanding of challenges and opportunities in energy transition
