The AtkinsRéalis Landscape Practice is an award‑winning, leading UK‑based design practice delivering excellence in all we do. Our practice‑wide team of 80 Landscape Architects work throughout the UK and internationally. We have a strong pipeline of work across all sectors and are recruiting Landscape Architects to grow our team in the Midlands Southwest and Wales region, with vacancies in Birmingham, Cardiff and Exeter offices.
Depending on your level of experience, you will have the opportunity to take a leading role on a wide variety of challenging design projects across the UK, collaborating with national and international multi‑disciplinary design teams. We value insight, creativity and a drive to deliver positive, sustainable, impactful designs, supported by a strong practice design manifesto.
We are looking for a skilled, passionate Chartered or Senior Landscape Architect with a strong background in the field, design flair, good written capabilities and a proactive can‑do attitude.
Work flexibility is a priority: we work three days in the office and offer the balance from home, with options for reduced weeks, additional leave and support for those returning from a career break. You will have the flexibility to balance your personal and professional priorities.
Applicants must hold a full, valid driving licence, live within reasonable distance to one of our offices, and be prepared for regional and national site visits.
Your Role
- Take responsibility for project workload within a team.
- Work within a multidisciplinary environment.
- Landscape Design, supporting projects from feasibility through to detail design.
- Understand the principles of SuDS.
- Support contract documentation and site supervision.
- Apply LVIA in accordance with the latest best practice guidance, planning process and EIA.
- Provide technical knowledge, high‑quality presentation and communication skills.
- Work within a quality assurance environment.
- Demonstrate experience in BIM.
About You
- Design input to projects across schools, rail, road, flood infrastructure, public realm and urban regeneration; prepare Landscape and Visual Impact Assessments.
- Prepare tender responses and provide landscape advice to external and internal clients.
- Understand project management, including financial management; allocate resources in liaison with senior leadership; mentor junior staff; hold a relevant landscape degree.
- Be a Chartered member of the Landscape Institute with relevant post‑chartership experience, ideally in both public and private sectors.
- Demonstrate experience managing and delivering multi‑disciplinary projects, especially in education, transport, flood infrastructure and urban regeneration; manage budgets.
- Possess commercial awareness, business development skills and deliver consultancy‑level service.
- Be competent in AutoCAD and Adobe packages; have a passion for exploring Revit, SketchUp and other design tools for presentational outputs.
- Show proficiency with BIM and communication via hand drawings.
- Execute tasks with flexibility, self‑motivation and the ability to work with limited supervision.
- Communicate effectively, draft high‑standard reports, meet tight deadlines and work well under pressure.
- Display commercial awareness and business development skills.

This role may require security clearance and offers of employment will be dependent on obtaining the relevant level of clearance.
