Job Description: Fabrication Workshop Supervisor


Reporting to: Contracts Manager


Department: Work shop


Salary: £24.50 basic hour


Hours of Work: 07.30 to 16.00


A Fabricator/Welder of metals and plastic. Responsible for assembling products using a range of techniques and materials in line with all internal production requirements and quality standards.


Duties & Responsibilities:



  • Ensure all Workshop activities are completed effectively

  • Adhere to company procedures and Health & Safety polices at all times.

  • Receive manufacturing packages from the Contracts Manager/Estimator

  • Produce cutting lists and work material ordering quantities.

  • Ability to organise work load priorities and delegate to the team.

  • Fabricate metals using both MIG and TIG welding techniques.

  • Draw and plan basic designs.

  • Ensure all work is carried out to exact specifications and to a high standard of quality.

  • Safely set up all work equipment and assemblies to company procedures.

  • Practical understanding and supervision of good fabrication techniques.

  • Operating other machinery and hand tools as and when required.

  • Ensure workshop maintenance and housekeeping are maintained to good standard at all times

  • Supervision of workshop team and operational conditions at all times.

  • Ensuring all health and safety controls and appropriate PPE are utilised at all times.

  • Maintain accurate records of production and follow quality assurance ISO standards

  • Effectively communicate any issues, which may potentially result in delay to production or compromise safety.

  • Ensuring confidentiality and company integrity are protected

  • Manage storeroom stock, equipment and consumables etc.

  • Identify and support own and teams development opportunities.


Skills, Experience & Attributes:



  • Fork Lift Truck Certificate

  • 3 years Supervisory experience working in an engineering workshop environment.

  • Experience working to tight deadlines and problem solving as required.

  • Qualifications using mechanical equipment such as MIG and TIG Welding etc.

  • Experience managing H&S in a workshop environment.

  • Excellent interpersonal skills

  • Ability to form professional relationships with stakeholders.
