Construction Safety Manager – Montefiore Health System

Work Shift: Day (Mon–Fri, 8:30 AM-5 PM), 7.5 hours daily
Pay Range: $92,000.00 – $115,000.00
Job Summary
The Construction Safety Manager, in partnership with the Director of Environmental Health and Safety, implements and maintains comprehensive safety programs focusing on fire safety, life safety, hazardous material compliance, workplace safety, and construction safety across Montefiore Health System campuses. The role leads proactive risk identification and mitigation, collaborates with project managers, contractors, and leadership to integrate safety protocols into all construction phases, conducts investigations, delivers training, and drives continuous improvement.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, implement, and maintain construction safety programs in compliance with OSHA, TJC, EPA, CMS, DEC, FDNY, DOH, DOT, and DEP regulations.
- Collaborate with project managers, contractors, and departmental leaders to ensure safety protocols are integrated into construction phases.
- Coordinate safety inspections, conduct investigations of construction‑related incidents, and analyze findings to implement improvements.
- Deliver targeted safety training to site personnel and contractors.
- Maintain comprehensive records of safety activities and produce compliance reports.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives in safety performance.
Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Occupational Safety, Environmental Health, Public Health, or a related field.
- Minimum 5 years of experience in construction safety, healthcare compliance, or related field.
- Expertise in OSHA regulations, The Joint Commission standards, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- OSHA Outreach Instructor certification (general industry or construction) and certifications such as CHST or CSP preferred.
- Strong regulatory compliance skill set with the ability to evaluate information and ensure compliance.
- Proven investigative and systems analysis skills, with the ability to identify key performance indicators and implement improvements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills for conveying safety protocols and collaborating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Demonstrated leadership in designing and delivering engaging, audience‑specific training programs.
