Overview
We are working in partnership with a reputable and forward-thinking consultancy to appoint a Building Surveyor to support continued growth and a strong pipeline of projects. This role is available in one of the following regions: London, the Midlands, or the North West. The successful candidate will be regionally based and responsible for delivering services within their local area. The ideal individual will bring a solid foundation in building pathology, excellent time management skills, a collaborative mindset, and a genuine passion for their work. As a Building Surveyor, you will be responsible for delivering high-quality technical work with a strong focus on professional standards and client satisfaction.
Responsibilities
- Conducting a wide range of building inspections and producing clear, well-structured reports in line with client briefs and agreed timescales
- Identifying and diagnosing building defects using in-depth knowledge of building pathology
- Liaising effectively with administrative and technical colleagues to schedule inspections and ensure timely delivery of reports
- Responding promptly and professionally to client queries, including Part 35 questions where applicable
- Contributing to additional Building Surveying duties as required, which may include party wall matters, expert witness reporting, and pre-purchase surveys
Skills & Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who meet the following criteria:
- A degree in Building Surveying from an RICS-accredited course (or equivalent)
- AssocRICS, MRICS, or FRICS preferred; however, candidates with MCIOB accreditation and suitable experience will also be considered
- Proven experience in building pathology is essential
- Prior involvement in expert witness work, party wall matters, or residential pre-purchase surveys is desirable — although training can be provided for candidates with the right foundation and willingness to develop
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to tailor reporting and advice to different client types
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, SharePoint, and comfortable using mobile inspection/reporting tools such as iPads
