Obsolescence Manager - Component Engineering
Hybrid (2 days per week on-site)
This is a rare and exciting opportunity to take the lead in developing and delivering our client's component obsolescence strategy – defining best practice, driving improvements, and ensuring our products remain at the cutting edge of reliability and innovation.
Responsibilities
- Lead the review, development and maintenance of the obsolescence management processes.
- Proactively and reactively manage the obsolescence status of thousands of components across our missile and support equipment designs.
- Provide expert advice and reporting to design, equipment and portfolio teams.
- Collaborate closely with Component Engineers to analyse supplier data and trends.
- Influence decision‑making by promoting robust and coordinated obsolescence management practices.
- Share your expertise through design reviews, training and mentoring activities.
- Contribute to international obsolescence initiatives, helping to define and implement best practices across global teams.
Qualifications
- Proven experience or strong knowledge in obsolescence management, tools and techniques.
- Understanding of BS 62402:2001 requirements.
- Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to produce clear, concise, and professional engineering documentation.
- Strong stakeholder management skills with a collaborative mindset.
Desirable Skills
- Experience with tools such as Matrix PLM, SAP, Silicon Expert, or IHS.
- A background in component or electronic engineering would be advantageous.
