This role supports the Project Engineering Manager with a high level of Software Development activity within Modular Integrated Protection Systems (MIPS). MIPS involves the development of an autonomous protection system for modern military vehicles, including the architecture that supports the seamless utilisation of future Sensors and Effectors.
Reporting to the Project Engineering Manager, you will hold personal responsibility for the leadership of software development, from Requirements through to Acceptance. You will build strong relationships with Engineering Functional Leads and external partners to ensure resourcing plans within the IPT are realistic and issues are resolved swiftly.
What You’ll Bring
- The ability to manage a dynamic Software engineering team involving internal and external partners. Working closely with the Project Engineering Manager, responsible for delivery of the overall engineering output against time, cost and performance budgets.
- Skills to generate clear engineering plans, establish key milestones, and identify risks, opportunities and interdependencies. Ability to review current project positions and adapt plans to mitigate risks to cost, schedule or performance budgets.
- Significant experience leading Software engineering teams, including effective use of Jira in an agile development environment. Essential experience in UML development for real-time embedded software, and a strong understanding of the software engineering lifecycle on technically complex development projects.
- Desirable experience with The MathWorks toolset (including code generation) and working within the defence industry.
