Contract Opportunity: Mechanical Design Engineer (Outside IR35) Water Framework
Location: Stockport (Hybrid)
Contract Term: 12-month rolling (long-term project)
We're looking for an experienced Mechanical Design Engineer to join a major water infrastructure program. This role offers the chance to work on complex projects that shape the future of clean and wastewater systems across the UK.
What You'll Do
- Develop mechanical designs that meet stringent safety and quality standards.
- Produce detailed calculations and technical drawings for water-related assets.
- Provide leadership and guidance to CAD technicians.
- Define scopes of work and review outputs from subcontracted design teams.
- Collaborate with suppliers, prepare specifications, and evaluate technical proposals.
- Deliver design reports, investigations, and supporting documentation.
- Ensure compliance with industry standards and project governance.
- Manage design changes and maintain accurate records throughout the project lifecycle.
- Estimate resource requirements and contribute to planning.
- Represent the design team in meetings and technical presentations.
What We're Looking For
- At least 5 years' mechanical design experience within the UK water sector.
- Strong background in both clean water and wastewater projects.
- Solid understanding of hydraulic design principles.
- Familiarity with construction techniques and engineering drawing standards.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and technical expertise.
- Strong communication and ability to mentor others.
