Job Description: HSE Advisor New Build Industrial Project

Job Title: HSE Advisor

Location: Pembroke

Duration: 6 months

Role: The HSE Advisor will play a pivotal role in ensuring the health, safety, and environmental compliance of all activities on a new build industrial project. You will support the project team in fostering a strong safety culture, conducting risk assessments, and ensuring adherence to legal and company safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Health and Safety Management: Develop, implement, and monitor health, safety, and environmental policies, procedures, and standards tailored to the project.
  • Support the creation and review of the Construction Phase Plan.
  • Site Inspections and Audits: Conduct regular site inspections and audits to ensure compliance with HSE legislation and internal policies.
  • Identify and report non-compliance, providing recommendations for corrective actions.
  • Risk Assessment and Method Statements (RAMS): Review and approve contractors RAMS, ensuring they are fit for purpose and adhered to on-site.
  • Identify and mitigate potential risks associated with construction activities.
  • Incident Reporting and Investigation: Lead investigations into accidents, near misses, and incidents, ensuring root causes are identified, documented, and shared to prevent recurrence.
  • Prepare detailed incident reports and support the communication of lessons learned.
  • Training and Inductions: Deliver HSE training sessions and toolbox talks to workers, contractors, and visitors.
  • Manage and conduct site inductions, ensuring all personnel understand project-specific HSE requirements.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure the project complies with all relevant HSE legislation, including CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Liaise with statutory authorities and external stakeholders as required.
  • HSE Monitoring and Reporting: Maintain accurate records of inspections, audits, incidents, and HSE performance metrics.
  • Provide regular updates to the Project Manager and senior management on HSE performance.
  • Promoting Safety Culture: Act as the primary point of contact for HSE issues on-site.
  • Encourage and support a proactive safety culture across all levels of the project team.

Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience as an HSE Advisor, ideally on industrial or construction projects.
  • In-depth knowledge of UK health, safety, and environmental regulations, including CDM Regulations 2015.
  • Experience conducting risk assessments, method statement reviews, and site audits.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
