Befriender Volunteer - Be the reason someone feels seen, heard and supported - Volunteer Telephone Befrienders needed for Castle Point, Rayleigh & Rochford

Could you spare an hour a week to brighten someone's day?

Would you like to help members of your community feel safe and cared for?

As a ‘Telephone Befriender’, you will provide much-needed friendship over the phone to local residents who have reached out to our service. Our aim is to combat loneliness and isolation, which has been proven to negatively impact both mental and physical health. We need your help to achieve this.

We would love you to join our friendly team and become a Befriender for someone who fits your preferred criteria, such as gender, age, location, and interests, to encourage successful relationships to be formed.

To hear from one of our Befrienders and their Befriendee, please take a look at our Volunteering and Me..... video by highlighting and right-clicking to go to the following link:-

No previous experience is necessary as full training is provided, and calls can be made during the week, evenings, or at weekends.

Availability Details: Becoming a Befriender requires one day of training. Once an active volunteer, days and times are organised around the availability of the volunteer.
