About Bookmark Reading Charity

We improve children's literacy by promoting a reading for pleasure culture in primary schools, with a focus on supporting children in the most disadvantaged communities.

We give children the reading skills and confidence they need for a fair chance in life. We are seeking part‑time Session Delivery Executives to support with the delivery of our One‑to‑One Reading Programme.

You’ll deliver sessions in our partner schools via our secure online platform and support with attraction work designed to recruit new volunteers.

Role overview

Contract Type: Fixed term to 30th June 2026 with the possibility to renew from 1 Sept 2026 following the school summer holidays

Hours: Part‑time at 10 hours per week. Session Delivery Executives will be expected to undertake 10 reading programmes per week, with any sessions cancelled by the school to be used for preparation and attraction work. Hours are only available during school term time, and accrued annual leave must be taken during school holidays.

Salary: UK Living wage £134.50 – £148 per week (£26,227.50 – £28,860 FTE) subject to changes proposed by the UK government and location of the applicant due to UK and London Living wage rates.

Location: This role is home‑based and requires your own IT equipment‑ namely, a PC, laptop, or tablet. Headphones/earphones are also preferred. You must be a resident in the UK to undertake this role and have the right to work in the UK.

Person specification

We’re seeking someone who will be:

  • Passionate about literacy and its importance
  • Proficient in computer skills, including the use of our online reading platform, our training and our Volunteer Hub
  • Fluent in English and a competent reader
  • A good communicator with excellent listening skills
  • Reliable, punctual and committed to supporting children’s literacy
  • Able to work professionally and independently, as well as collaboratively with others

Safeguarding

  • You will need to adhere to our Safer Recruitment Policy to ensure suitability to work with children
  • You will need to be able to demonstrate an understanding of safeguarding principles and share our commitment to keeping children safe
