Senior UX / Product Designer – Interu

Company: Interu – built by iov42
Apply for the Senior UX / Product Designer – Interu
Location: London
Job Description:

Founded in Austria in 2016, iov42 was born out of a bold vision: to unlock the potential of secure, transparent, and trustworthy data sharing across the world’s most complex industries.

Today, our team of experts spans 12 different nationalities and operates across Europe, bringing together a wealth of diverse perspectives and technical know-how to solve the unique challenges of our globalised economy.

About Interu:

We are passionate about the impact our product is making, especially in sectors like sustainable supply chain management and traceability. Our flagship application, Interu (interu.io), is enabling organisations to track forest risk commodities across their supply chains and meet sustainability targets and regulations. By doing so, we are helping combat deforestation and the illicit trade in commodity supplies. Designed for scalability, Interu supports an ever growing number of supply chains and organisations, with the flexibility to onboard other industries and products seamlessly.

Role Summary

  • Own the end-to-end UX for a complex B2B supply chain compliance platform
  • Lead information architecture, workflows, and design systems
  • Work deeply with Product and Engineering from discovery through delivery
  • Design for data-heavy, regulated workflows (EUDR and beyond)
  • Help shape how UX is done at Interu, with room to grow in your role
  • Contribute to a meaningful mission driving sustainable and ethical commerce

The role

We’re hiring a Senior Product Designer to take end-to-end ownership of UX for Interu and play a key role in shaping how design works here.

Reporting to the Head of Product and working closely with Product Managers and Engineers, you’ll design complex workflows, improve how users navigate and understand the platform, and help define a coherent UX direction as the product scales.

This is a hands‑on role. You’ll spend time in discovery, prototypes, user research, and delivery — not just polishing screens. As Interu grows, there is clear headroom to take on more ownership, including shaping UX practices and mentoring others over time.

What you’ll do

1. Product experience & UX direction

  • Contribute to a clear UX vision and principles aligned with Interu’s product strategy.
  • Map and continuously refine end-to-end user journeys, from onboarding to daily operations and reporting.
  • Identify and drive the highest-leverage UX improvements over the next 6–18 months (for example navigation, data entry, risk workflows, dashboards).
  • Partner with Product to turn strategy into prioritised UX initiatives, balancing usability, technical constraints, and regulatory complexity.
  • Redesign and evolve the platform’s information architecture: navigation, hierarchy, naming, and way-finding across multiple personas.
  • Own interaction design for key flows such as:
  • Data ingestion and bulk operations
  • Supply chain modelling and collaboration
  • Due-diligence statements, risk assessment, and reporting
  • Integrations with external systems (for example TRACES)
  • Make complex regulatory concepts comprehensible, forgiving, and actionable for non-expert users.

3. Design system & visual language

  • Lead the creation and evolution of a design system (components, patterns, accessibility standards).
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure the system is implemented in code and used consistently.
  • Define standards for responsive behaviour, states, error handling, and micro-interactions.

4. User research & discovery

  • Plan and run practical, lightweight research (interviews, usability tests, concept testing).
  • Embed UX discovery into the product process, from problem framing through validation.
  • Turn research into clear insights and recommendations that influence roadmaps and delivery.
  • Represent user needs and trade‑offs clearly in cross‑functional discussions.
  • Work closely with Product Managers and Engineers throughout delivery:
  • Shape problem statements and success metrics
  • Provide designs, prototypes, and design QA
  • Participate in planning, refinement, and reviews
  • Help define and track UX success metrics (task completion, time on task, error rates, adoption).
  • Advocate for simple, understandable solutions, even when the underlying logic is complex.

6. Growing UX at Interu

  • Help define how UX works at Interu: processes, collaboration patterns, and quality bar.
  • Informally mentor colleagues across Product, Engineering, Customer Success, and Commercial teams, building a more user‑centric culture as we scale.

What we’re looking for:

Experience

  • Strong experience in product design / UX (typically 5+ years)
  • Proven track record designing complex B2B or data-heavy products
  • Experience contributing to UX direction or strategy, not just execution
  • Demonstrated ownership of:
  • End-to-end product experiences
  • Information architecture for multi-persona systems
  • Design system creation and rollout with Engineering
  • User research and evidence-based decision-making

Skills & capabilities

  • Excellent interaction design and information architecture skills
  • Strong product thinking, comfortable with trade-offs
  • Proficiency with modern design tools (for example Figma and related tooling)
  • Practical experience building and maintaining component libraries
  • Comfort adopting AI-assisted design tools in your workflow
  • Ability to define and use UX metrics (qualitative and quantitative)
  • Clear, confident communication with stakeholders and customers
  • Comfortable working in regulated environments without losing usability

Mindset

  • User‑obsessed but pragmatic
  • Systems thinker who connects UI decisions to data models and processes
  • Collaborative and low‑ego
  • Builder who enjoys setting things up from scratch
  • Motivated by ownership and growth, with interest in stepping into a Lead role over time

What success looks like (12–18 months)

  • A clear, practical UX direction guiding day‑to‑day decisions
  • A design system in place and actively used
  • A simpler, more navigable information architecture for core personas
  • Regular user research integrated into delivery
  • Measurable improvements in key UX metrics
  • A clear, shared view of your growth path as the team scales

What we offer

  • Salary: c. £70‑85k depending on skills and experience
  • Hybrid working (UK-based; ideally 1‑2 days/week in Central London)
  • Employee share scheme
  • 25 days’ annual leave (plus public holidays)
