Overview

Role: Poppy Appeal Manager

Location: Homebased, Buckinghamshire

Contract Type: Permanent

Hours: 35 Hours, Monday to Friday

We are looking for a passionate and dedicated individual to join the Royal British Legion as a Poppy Appeal Manager for Buckinghamshire. This role offers a unique opportunity to coordinate all aspects of the award winning Poppy Appeal in your area, working closely with the Regional Poppy Appeal Manager to meet agreed income, expenditure, and contribution targets. You will manage relationships with local supporters, partners, and volunteers, ensuring they have the resources and support they need to maximise fundraising efforts and make a lasting impact.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate all aspects of the Poppy Appeal in Buckinghamshire, working with the Regional Poppy Appeal Manager to meet income, expenditure, and contribution targets.
  • Build and nurture corporate partnerships and manage relationships with supporters, partners, and volunteers; ensure stakeholders have resources and support to maximise fundraising.
  • Recruit and induct new Poppy Appeal Organisers; provide guidance and support to help them thrive.
  • Coordinate the Poppy Appeal launch and lead related PR and media activities.
  • Represent the Royal British Legion in the local community and engage with key stakeholders.
  • Travel regularly within Buckinghamshire; occasional travel outside the county (including overnight stays 1–2 nights per year) for training or conferences.
  • Maintain regular communication with stakeholders and provide updates on progress.

What we are looking for

  • Strong relationship-building and event planning skills; passion for supporting the Armed Forces community.
  • Experience in fundraising or related roles is beneficial; financial management experience is helpful but not essential.
  • A full UK driving licence is required.
  • Willingness to travel and flexibility in working hours; some evening and weekend work with a focus on work-life balance.
